After using it for the past 8 months, I am obsessed. It literally takes work off your desk. It counts as a real coworker. Duh, the name is clear.
But the trend is clear too. Cowork used to be a Claude feature only. That has changed.
Two labs, one vision, six months apart
Anthropic launched Claude Cowork in January 2026, an agent that works inside your files instead of a chat window. OpenAI answered in July with ChatGPT Work, doing the same job. Both labs, the same approach. No wonder.
But Zyad, you know what our actual problem is?

YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN COPILOT.
I know. I have said it for months: invest 20 euros and learn how to use Claude, Cowork, Code. Many of you were not convinced.
The good news is Cowork is now available inside Copilot.
The 3 ways to actually use Cowork
1. Claude Cowork, directly. If you have a Claude Pro account, you already have this. No IT ticket needed.
2. Copilot Cowork, inside Microsoft 365. Built on the same Anthropic technology, wrapped into Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. This one goes through your company, not your personal login.
3. ChatGPT Work, from OpenAI. Bundled into ChatGPT's Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans, running on GPT-5.6. Same idea, OpenAI's version.
Let's go one level deeper on the two that involve your company.
Copilot has had this the whole time and nobody told you
I had no idea Cowork was available inside my "useless" Copilot. Well, now you know.
But you have not heard about it, and there's a clear reason for that: it needs IT access, and it's not available without it. Most organizations are not yet providing it because it is metered. That means pay as you go.
That means three things:
You and your team need training, or you'll end up with an invoice that makes finance ask questions.
Your IT department has to explain how tokens work and how to estimate usage.
Management doesn't have a clear business case yet, and someone has to build one.
What should you do
First, make sure you actually know what Cowork is.
Second, learn where it fits into real sustainability work. Not theory, actual use cases.
