Cowork and Chat are one Claude now
I've been waiting for this one. Anthropic announced it on 16 September, rolled it out in the US first, and now it has landed here too.
No more deciding between Chat and Cowork before you start. You describe the task, Claude works out what it needs. Bigger job? It keeps working after you close the laptop. Everything you set up is exactly where you left it: your projects, your skills, your connectors, your folders.
So what does that change for you, if you've been using Cowork?
Let me be direct: nothing.
The toggle was never the point. What made Cowork powerful was the setup behind it: an organised project folder, skills, plugins, connectors, and a Project-status.md file that keeps Claude on track. Skip those and you have chat with extra steps, whatever the menu calls it. Get them right and Claude runs the job while you're in a meeting.
Garbage in, garbage out still applies. Good setup in, real work out.
